What is Islam in Prison?

ISLAM IN PRISON is a national nonprofit project of Al Furqaan Foundation dedicated to conducting dawah within prisons and supporting incarcerated Muslims across the United States. We provide Qurans, Islamic books, prayer items, and post-release support to help Muslims grow spiritually and reintegrate into society with dignity.

We provide:

  • Qurans (in English, Arabic, and Spanish)
  • Prayer rugs, kufis, hijabs, thobes, miswaks, attar, dhikr beads
  • Islamic literature and books of knowledge
  • Spiritual mentorship and community support
  • Post-release support with housing, transportation, ID, job training, and Medicaid

Our resources are designed for Muslims, but we do not turn away non-Muslims seeking spiritual guidance or literature out of sincere interest.

We serve facilities across U.S. states, including federal prisons, state prisons, county jails, and ICE detention centers.

Incarcerated individuals (or their loved ones or chaplains) can email or call us with a request. We fulfill all verified requests.

We are funded through donations from individuals, local communities, and grants. We rely on the generosity of donors who believe in justice, mercy, and second chances.

Yes! Donations help us send more materials and expand our reentry services. Volunteers can assist with correspondence, logistics, mentorship, and advocacy. Send us a message through our website’s Contact Us page to begin getting involved.

Incarcerated Muslims often lack basic access to religious materials, mentorship, and community. Without spiritual grounding and support, many fall back into cycles of incarceration. Our work helps break those cycles by restoring dignity, purpose, and connection to faith — from the inside out.

Yes. Most prisons allow religious materials, though policies vary by facility. We comply with each facility’s mailroom guidelines to ensure materials are accepted and delivered.

We send The Clear Quran translation in English, which is widely recognized as the most easy-to-understand translation in modern-day English. We also provide El Quran Esclarecedor – the Spanish translation of The Clear Quran and The Quran in Arabic, of course.
